On unfinished thinking
A case study is a eulogy. By the time it is written, the thing is dead — or at least embalmed into a story with a clean arc.
I would rather show the work while it is still warm. The crossed-out ideas. The prototype that will not ship. The question I cannot yet answer.
It is uncomfortable to publish unfinished thinking. It feels like handing someone a half-built chair and calling it furniture. But the half-built chair is the truer object. It shows where the hands have been.
